Male gamete or sperm is the smallest of human cells and female egg or ovum produced by the ovaries is the largest of all human cells. The size of the sperm excluding its tail comes to only about 5 micrometers by 3 micrometers whereas the diameter of the human ovum comes to about 120 micrometers.

Castration Caused High-Pitched Voice

Italian people of 17th century believed that castration before pubescent years resulted in a high-pitched voice in males.
• Castrated men with high-pitched voice were in great demand for church choirs and for operas.
• The testicles produce male hormone called testosterone which causes the normal development during puberty.
• Testosterone is important for reproduction as well as for the expression of secondary sexual characters in males such as deep voice, facial hair, body hair, etc. This might have led to the belief that castration improves the singing ability in men.

Moreover, women considered men with deeper voices more attractive and masculine. Researches show that the men with low pitched voice have a lower sperm concentration in their ejaculation than the higher-pitched men.
