Our review
★★★★☆ 4.3
Bumble’s founding rule — on heterosexual matches, only women can open the conversation — reshaped the tone of swipe dating and still filters out much of the spam women get elsewhere. Matches expire in 24 hours without a message, which keeps things moving. The user base is huge, urban and slightly more intentional than Tinder’s. In 2024 it loosened the first-move rule with “Opening Moves,” but the women-first culture remains the brand.
Pros
- Women control the opening move
- Large, fairly intentional user base
- Expiring matches reduce ghost queues
Cons
- 24h expiry pressures busy users
- Premium is pricey
- Casual-to-serious mix varies by city
